Croissant are the prefect breakfast food. Just the thought of it can remind you of the warm and buttery croissant that are freshly baked. In an ideal world, you will never have to worry about reheating them, as they will always be served fresh out of the oven. But what if you have leftovers? How do you reheat a croissant?
Unfortunately, we don’t live in that ideal world. It is much more convenient to buy a large batch of croissant at a time and then use them according to your needs. So whether you have purchased a large pack of room temperature croissants or the frozen variety, learn how to reheat them so you can enjoy them the next day without compromising on the taste and fluffiness.
How to Store Croissants?
- Room Temperature
Croissant, or any kind of baked goods, remain fresh and to the best quality at room temperature. The problem is that they only last for about two days. So if you plan on consuming them within that time, it is best to store them in an airtight container to prevent them from drying out.
- Refrigerate
When refrigerated, the shelf life of a croissant is extended for up to 5 to 7 days. Just wrap them tightly in a plastic wrap or aluminum foil or place them in an airtight container and put in the fridge. Refrigeragted croissant will return to room temperature within an hour of removing from the fridge.
- Freeze
Frozen croissants are safe to eat for up to a year, but they would remain fresh for up to 2 months. To freeze them, double wrap the croissants tightly, by first using a plastic wrap and then an aluminum foil and place them in the freezer. If you have brought pre-frozen croissants, follow the date and instructions on the package.
How to Reheat a Croissant?
There are two main methods you can use to reheat a croissant without compromising on their taste and texture:
Reheat in the oven
- Preheat the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit
- Remove the croissant from any wrapping and place them on a baking sheet or tray.
- If reheating room temperature croissants, bake for about 3 minutes.
- If the croissants are frozen, bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Check to see if the croissant is heated through. If not, bake them for an extra minute or two.
- Remove from the oven and serve.
Reheat in the Microwave
Although this method may not preserve the desired texture of the croissant, but it is close enough and works better if you are in a hurry and don’t have the time to preheat the oven.
- Place the croissants on an oven safe plate or bowl.
- Put the dish in the microwave and turn it on medium.
- Heat it for 40 seconds to check if heated through. If not, give an additional 10 seconds.
- Remove from the microwave and serve.
So now you don’t have to eat those cold croissant, and can enjoy previously ones as if they were made fresh.
